Tomatoes

Food was first on my list of essentials.  Like most people, I first set out to grow tomatoes.  Tomato plants produce a lot of tomatoes.  One can get overrun with tomatoes pretty quickly.  It wasn't such a bad thing.  We had plenty to share and all we could eat.  However, the next year we decided to plant fewer tomatoes.  It seems that quite a few of our tomatoes had gone bad and made it into our compost bin.  Well, of course, we used last years compost in this years garden.  There was apparently viable tomato seed in our compost and up came an abundance of volunteer tomato seedlings.  So once again we are overrun with tomatoes.

If you try, there is a lot you can do with tomatoes.  You can slice them for sandwiches, chop them for salads, make pizza and spaghetti sauce, make salsa, picante, and ketchup.  You can even make tomato soup and, if you have the time, you can even try canning tomatoes.  We started our garden in the old-fashioned way.  Quite a bit of work!  But, there is a man who knows an easier way.  To find out what he knows, CLICK HERE!
